Just want to make sure this is possible before I start. I can easily do this, right? And it will easily be able to reconnect to the new MacBook I get as long as I point it to the correct location on my external SSD? Soooooo I would like to do this all exclusively on an external hard drive. The problem is that there is zero space on my MacBook (which I'm considering upgrading to the new 15" MBA sometime in the next year when I can afford it). So I'm about to start an enormous photos + music project where I update and curate my libraries. Because €1800 (Air, SSD bumped to 512GB) vs €2300 (Pro, base model), i'd go for the Air. And i feel like i don't wanna have to deal with a 256GB SSD (for my Photos library alone), i'm just wondering about the RAM. The base model price, without upgrading storage and memory for a total of 500 bucks, would be a no brainer. Sure, i'll be losing 1 inch in display real estate, but the portability should remain very similar. Especially the way better screen (1000 nits peak brightness MiniLED with 120hz). I don't need the 120hz.īut getting all of this for 10% extra cost (+ HDMI without dongle) is tempting. Like, i don't think i'll be needing the capabilities of the M2 Pro. And back then (or in general, really) one would just get the base model, maybe bump storage a bit.īut the for "Pro" use cases i have (a bit of adobe suite here and there), Apple Silicon is more than capable enough, so i'd love to downgrade to the Air. But mostly because i was previously a MacBook Pro user.
